David

David studied Optometry in Dublin and then started what would go on to be a successful and award winning practice in Ireland for 10 years. When he sold the practice it had a reputation as "the" opticians to buy fun or trendy eyewear. In 2001 David and Terri, his Australian wife, made the decision to move to the Australia. He advertised his business for sale in the UK journal ‘Optician” by asking the question “Have a thirsty ambition or think things are greener on the other side of the Irish Sea?! “ This question, superimposed over a photo of a giant glass of Guinness, generated 23 letters of interest, showing that opticians everywhere will go anywhere for a decent beer! The business quickly sold and he moved to Perth with his young family.

David has no time for designer eyewear pretenders. He looks for innovative spectacle makers who make beautiful glasses and are committed to using the latest technologies, design and materials. David has the largest collection of vintage frames in Australia. A 1920’s brass art deco cabinet in his practice displays 30 frames from this collection. Each frame is in excellent condition and comes with a two year warranty, a rarity for vintage items.
